This wearable turkey mask/helmet was inspired by the iconic Friends episode: “The One with All the Thanksgivings” (season 5, episode 8).

We made the turkey split into parts, so they can each fit on a medium plate sized (up to 257x257x257mm) printer!

You can also have the option to wear it with or without the glasses and the fez hat:)

Print difficulty level: Advanced

Recommended print settings:

(If you use Bambu or Orca slicer, all the print settings are automatically loaded in each version’s 3mf files)

–Layer height: 0.2-0.23mm, since it’s a big print, if you want it to finish faster, you could even make it higher, but then the layer lines will be more visible draft looking)

–Wall loops: 2

–Infill: 7-10%, Gyroid

–Supports: For most parts if you turn on Auto Supports with a threshold angle of 28 degrees, TopZ distance 0.28, BottomZ distance 0.2, that will work on them! (You can also follow the reference image from each sliced model in the download folder, the only part which doesn’t necessarily need supports is the Turkey Head Top part, and the Fez Hat part)

Filament: Polymaker PLA Matte White

Glue: Gorilla Super Glue Liquid

Filler Primer: Rust-Oleum Filler and Sandable Primer Spray 

Sandpaper: 3m Pro Grade Grit: 120, 3m Pro Grade Grit:220
 and/or Bates- Sandpaper, 18 Pack, 12 Grits, 120 to 3000

Primer: Rust-Oleum Bleached Stone

Paint: Fantastory Craft Acrylic Paint Set

Clear coat finish: Rust-Oleum Matte Clear Coat or if you want glossy look Rust-Oleum Clear Gloss

  • Preparation: Use Gorilla super glue (or any other strong glue) to put the pieces and parts together of the turkey, you can sand the contact parts for better sticking, make sure the glue holds the parts well together and that it has completely dried.

  • Minimal sanding: Start with minimal sanding to keep texture; 220-grit sandpaper should suffice.

  • Filler Primer: Apply Rust-Oleum Filler and Sandable Primer Spray to fill in any noticeable layer lines and seams, then lightly sand again with 220-grit to keep texture intact. You can use any other filler putty (greenstuff or anything what fills in the gaps and seems between the glued parts well)

  • Texture Coat: Use a textured spray paint like Rust-Oleum Bleached Stone. This will add that bumpy, crust-like surface. Let it dry fully.

  • Turkey Skin Colors: Use acrylic paints in muted pinks, browns, and yellows. Start with a light pinkish base and add subtle brown shading for depth. You can add yellow highlights for a realistic, roasted look. Use a stippling technique with a sponge for natural texture.

  • Accessories: Paint the glasses, fez, and any other elements separately with acrylics in colors matching the reference image.

  • Clear Coat: Finish with a matte clear coat to protect the paint and maintain the textured look.
