“STEAL THEIR LOOK!” instructions:
Version1: Painted, craft eye, 100% size , print time 2.5h
File: Baby Earth Elemental Dragon-Glass Eyes version_.stl OR 3mf_
Filament: Polymaker PLA Matte White OR ZERO Basic Skin Color PLA
Craft dragon eye: JulieWang 12mm Dragon Eyes OR JulieWang 8mm Dragon Eyes (if you scale down your dragon to 69%, then it fits 8mm eyes)
Primer: Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Spray Paint White
Paint: Fantastory Craft Acrylic Paint Set (Use light and dark brown, black, peach and beige)
Clear coat finish: Rust-Oleum Matte Clear Coat or if you want glossy look Rust-Oleum Clear Gloss
Steps:
-
Prepare & Prime: Clean your model and apply a smooth coat of Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch White Primer. Let it dry completely.
-
Base Color: Apply a base layer of beige paint for the body, avoiding scales and raised details.
-
Shading:
Add acrylic dark brown tones around the edges of the scales and crevices. You can also use an airbrush or sponge for soft transitions.
Blend darker tones into the body for dimension, focusing on shadows (under scales and folds).
-
Details:
Use a fine-tip brush to highlight raised areas of scales with a lighter beige or peach to mimic texture.
Paint accents like the horns or spikes in a contrasting, muted tone (e.g., ivory or light tan).
Paint the hollow eye part with very dark brown or black.
Add a little bit pink or peach color around the cheek area and under the eyes, it will make the little dragon 10 times cuter:) -
Eyes: Attach JulieWang dragon eyes with glue.
-
Sealing: Finish with Rust-Oleum Matte or Gloss Clear Coat for durability.
(Allow each layer to dry fully before moving to the next for the best results.)
